consider love

When I came to the university armed with a below mediocre math grade in high school, it was a stuggle for me. Up until today, I still can't believe how I managed to graduate with an engineering degree. It was just a day to day encouragement from my parents - they believed.
On the other hand my 2nd grade teacher critiqued my art project and told me face blank I have no artistic talent in me. I stopped the art pursuit and I'll never experience if art is something that can be developed in a child - many believed.
It was in these lines of thought that Paul was writing in 1Cor:10 that the final arbiter must be considerate love and not knowledge or liberty.

plug it in, plug it in

Electricity conducts with the same molecular valence-
ie. metal to metal or metal to water. In the same manner
spiritual things speaks to the spirit, carnal conducts to
carnal. - 'need to plug in to the Source.

It was the most cherished christmas gift I had
when I was six - a toy propeller plane.
It only lasted for a couple of days until my
friend shattered it into pieces when he threw
it from the second floor of our house.
I was traumatized not because of was my friend did
but to what kind of spanking will I get from my dad.
I came down the house, I saw my dad picking up the
broken pieces. He held my face with his big hands,
looked me in the eye and said "it's ok son".

Do you see what I see?

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams

While driving a U-haul truck, I had this feeling
of inadequacy since this truck has no rear view mirror
in fact it doesn't really have a rear view at all!
But when I got the hang of it, it's not bad at all, it's
actually even better not seeing who's "tailgate-harassing"
you and getting blind sighted by those high
beamed cars behind you.

I can actually see the road again!

An economist said that "Death and taxes are to be constant in this world"....true..but a King once said "in this world trouble and sufferings we will have" and the difference is that He will overcome it for us.

Rom 8:18 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us".

When we hear ourselves honking and flashing
signs...that's the signal. We need to charge
up and wait for that everlasting bunny! There
are no short cuts.

like eagles. Thay shall run and not be weary.
They shall walk and not faint". Is 40:31

word-ly

Ps 119:89 "Forever,O Lord,Your word is settled in heaven".

His authoritative and all-encompassing word is timeless.
He spoke and the earth is created and sustained. He rules
with faithfulness through promises. By grace his creation abides
and lives with it.
As we hear and yield to the authority of God's Word, we verify
that we are no longer dominated by the world's spirit of error.

Alarm clock, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the sight of towering
skyscrapers,GPS,cellphones ringing,fast cars,conquering schedules,

lose sight of eternity.

future-perfect

God spoke the promise. A place that is of uncorrupted beauty
with virgin untracked course-- the future. 'Problem is that man
lives the "future-present" with baggages from the past. It's ours
for the taking.

seasons of love

Green, yellow, red. This is not the sequence of a traffic light to bring vehicles into a randon halt but rather this is are the color changes of the leaves of the trees in my fron yard. It just brings me to a random stop that Someone lovingly orchestrates the beauty in each phase of a change. He sees us through the seasons.

All eyes

It was my son's first band recital yesterday. With a 50-kid strong
band playing,I often catch myself focused only to one person-my son.
Feeling proud, it reminded me of a dad who gave up his only son only
to justify the "apple of his eye".

Cold winds will blow, storms will rage,
soon it will be winter.
Hold on, stand firm, don't move or or even lift
a finger, fix your eyes on Me. This too will
come to pass.

linear regression

Psalm 90:12 "So teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom".

A glimpse of the road I traveled makes me want
to stop and reminisce. There will be more stops
ahead, until the full view is completed. Then
I can look back and wallow in a higher avenue.

no strings attached

1 John 2:15-17 "Do not love the world or the things in the world....and the world is passing away..."

I was watching the Southern California fire coverage yesterday when the reporters focused on this massive "castlellic-home" burning down to the ground. It's set up high in this exclusive area of Malibu once majestic with turrets and medieval stone walls. I was astonished by the reply of this woman who owned the estate when asked by the reporter how she feels about the loss of her property. She replied "My father did not teach me to allow my possessions to possess me...It's alright".
I don't know if this woman knows the Lord or not but that is the very instuction of our heavenly father not to be attached to a single penny or gizmo when he calls us home to our mansion in heaven.

Psalm 150:6 "Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord"

Praise God for Mondays. Praise God for the rain, praise God for school buses, praise God for light bulbs, praise God for heaters, praise God I have a car, praise God for my church, praise God for my wife,Jonathan and Jeremy, praise God for work, praise God for chairs, tables, lamps, bed, toothbrush, toothpaste, warm shower, hot chocolate, refrigerator, warm sweater, umbrella, telephone, computer, internet.....

There are 10,000 things to Praise my God today!!!

John 14:2 "In my father's house are many mansions..I go to prepare a place for you"

I was in L.A. for a couple of days this week and had the chance to visit my family. Alex my brother in law is planning to visit Dallas next month showed me the biggest "Bumble-bee" transformer I've ever seen. He said he's planning to surprise my boys when he comes over. Now, whenever I see my boys I can't help to contain myself but to have a glow in my face since "Bumble-bee" is all they ever dreamed of. It just dawned on me that this must be the feeling Jesus had (only multiplied a thousand times) when he said the above.

Whew!!!

1Cor 9:26 "Therefore I run thus:not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air".

I had a tough match yesterday. It's an exhausting 3-setter. Many times I thought of giving up, my left leg cramped, my hand blistered and I'm running out of breath. Though I lost the match, I'm just glad that I made it through 3 sets.

Sometimes it's not so important to win but just to finish well.

FDIC

My father who is a champion value investor once gave me the best trading tip ever. Looking at my portfolio he said "Son your P/E ratio looked bearish to me, my stochiastics says eventually everything you have will lose its value in due time". He held my face, looked straight to me and said "Invest with me, I'll show you a bullish market that will pay you dividends for eternity". He handed me a list of his "stock picks" with a fine print in the bottom "Father's Insurance Deposit Corporation".

hero

It was in the summer of '78 right after my 6th Grade graduation, I was feeling sad since it will be the last time I'll see my best friend Delzon whose moving to another town. I still remember vividly that day when he came to me and handed me a book and he whispered to me "I found a treasure". Seeing in his eyes a burst of excitement he said "there's superpowers of invincibility in it!". "In that book there's a map that will lead you there!" he exclaimed, "and oh, your name is written in the map". I froze for a moment with perplexity I asked him "what should I do? He walked in to his dad's car, rolled down the window and shouted "look for it tonight!" as the car sped away. That was the last time I saw him......(to be cont'd),

listen

In this vocal world that your opinions should be heard and your rights
should prevail goes counter-flow to Word to be quick to listen, slow to
speak and slow to anger.
The anger that springs from a self-centeredness does not accomplish
the righteousness of God but does accomplish malice and destruction.

cleaning up

Last night, I was up almost the whole time. Jeremy my son got a stomach virus. I tried to comfort him and make him feel better to ease the pain.Occassionally I would clean up after him. After several times of him waking me up, honestly I began to feel irritated. Then a small voice whispered to me saying"that's exactly how I care for you, I love you".
